TREATMENT FOR UPPER & LOWER BACK PAIN
Currently, we treat our patients with two main methods for upper and lower back pain. These two main methods -- the gonstead method and flexion distraction-- are less invasive procedures than surgeries, which makes it much safer for your body and physical health.
Gonstead

The focus of the Gonstead adjustment is to be as specific, precise and accurate as possible, addressing only the problem areas (areas of subluxation). Great care is taken to ensure a bio-mechanically correct position and precise thrust to provide the most accurate and painless adjustment possible. It is the goal of your Gonstead doctor to restore and maintain optimal health by locating and correcting any interference to the nervous system caused by vertebral subluxation.
Flexion Distraction

Flexion-Distraction, (F/D) is a gentle, chiropractic treatment procedure utilized for back pain. Flexion-Distraction is a safe alternative to back surgery for those 95% of patients whose conditions do not demand surgical intervention. The doctor is in control of the treatment movements at all times.
Flexion-Distraction creates a "push, pull, pumping" effect on the space between the discs in your spine reducing pressure, soothing and realigning the joints and nourishing spinal discs.
"Oh I wish someone could just pull me apart!" some patients say. This technique does just that and much more in a safe, controlled manner.
Disc Bulges

Disc Bulges are one of the most common factors that cause back pain. Quite often, disc bulges are correlated with old age, but can form in patients of all ages. Disc bulges will create sharp pains and more severe pain, depending on where the condition is located. Depending on the extent of damage and age of the disc bulge, different types of treatments can be used to treat it or aleve the condition.
Subluxation

Subluxations are quite common causes of back pain, but can be overlooked in some cases. Subluxations is the scientific term for a condition where the spine is misaligned. This results in the patient having a challenging time to engage in physical activities and limit mobility. The root of subluxations can be a combination of many different factors, such as poor sleeping positions, nutrition, posture, and other lifestyle factors.
